The AGM was held in Amsterdam on the 19th of September, with Jaap van der Lee (St. Johns, Cambridge, 49) as the guest speaker. He spoke on “Europe, the early beginnings” and gave a very interesting personal account of the preparatory work and negotiations between the six founding member states. This work ultimately led to the drafting and signing of the Treaty of Rome. He shared with the audience his vision for Europe, reflecting upon both past achievements and the obstacles ahead. His presentation sparked many questions and observations from those members present.
