Family Barbeque Picnic - 2007

About 55 Members and their families attended a family Barbeque picnic held at the BSN Senior School Boerderij in Voorschoten on Saturday 16th June. A very enjoyable afternoon was had by all, despite the occasional downpour!

In view of the likely inclement weather, the committee decided at the last minute to organise a marquee, which it then had to erect before the members started to arrive. I'm happy to announce that between the 6 of us Oxbridge graduates, we managed to follow the instructions successfully...

There was plenty of opportunity to make new acquaintances as well as to renew old ones and the tent subsequently enabled us to enjoy a sumptuous barbeque when the weather decided to intervene. Thanks to the generosity of the British School in the Netherlands, who helped to sponsor the event, there was more than enough food & drink for everyone.

The croquet proved very popular with adults and children alike, even if it did prove quite taxing to remember all, or even some, of the rules. When it wasn't raining, which thankfully was quite a lot of the time, there were also opportunities for the children (big and small) to play football and badminton - or just run around the expansive grounds of the boerderij.
